Codies releasing F1 game on PSP/Wii this year, PS3/360/PC version in 2010

Autosport report that fans waiting for a HD version of F1 2009 will be a bit disappointed, as the game will only be releasing on Nintendo Wii and Sony PSP for this year’s edition. Then, for the 2010 edition, the game will be getting HD graphics and more sophisticated modes when it hits Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.

The Wii and PSP versions of the game will however be fully up to date, with all the new teams and tracks sorted, along with the new KERS boost system, the slick tyre rules, and the new look cars with altered aerodynamic regulations all in effect.

Codemasters has a great heritage when it comes to racing games and their reputation is second to none,” said F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone. “We’re working very closely together on the upcoming Formula 1 titles and are very impressed with what we have seen.

Jenson Button, who currently sits atop of the Drivers Championship added: “F1 computer games and circuit simulations can be invaluable for racing drivers so it’s great news that our fans will also be able to experience the BGP 001 through this game.

F1 2009 for PSP and Wii is set to be released this autumn.

  1. why a more sophisticated version on 360/ps3 racing games need to be pushed on nintendo platforms even when its the market leader by this much they still concentrate there full efforts on 360/ps3 dont like the trend and if it wasnt for wii the old way of playing games was dying we all know this but reviatalised because of wii they better do wii graphics that means better than original xbox by quite a fair bit if they dont than i wont buy it and i will defo not buy a 360ect so codemasters get your ass in gear and blow us way with your F1 2009 wii game please at least make it comparable to the last F1 game on 360

  2. Because they are more sophisticated machines? I think its a ridiculous strategy to be honest, get PS3 and 360 versions out quick if you ask me. I wouldn’t be bothering with PSP or Wii versions at all.

  3. lol.

Its a smart strategy because the company wants to maximise profit and this strategy allows for it. How?

Well Codies expect people to have at least one wii or PSP and a second console where this could be a PS3 or Xbox360. So when they release Wii or PSP version they know people will want to buy the early versions just to play the NEW f1 game. So when the new next gen versions come out these people who bought the earlier versions will want to shell out more money for the same game!! Maximising profits!! :)

Smart selling two copies to the same buyer at different times of the year!! or even in different years!! :)

  4. The problem there is that although there is a great deal of cross ownership, the way people use the systems is vastly different. Of course there will be people that buy both versions but personally I’d feel much more comfortable getting a quick 2009 game out on the HD consoles this year, and then a fully fledged game out in 2010.

For the larger part of Wii owners a game like this just isn’t going to interest them, you’re not selling to this massive userbase with games like this, your selling to a small proportion of it. PSP I don’t know why anyone is still bothering with.

  5. DAMN!!!!!!

  6. Contrare, almost half my school are getting it on wii.they should put carrer mode on it too

  7. i think that the 2010 version should be being produced right now so it will be out instore before the f1 2010 season begins, because it is a let down for ps3 and xbox360 because they are 2 of the most popular games consoles out right now. I think that the manufactures will make more money and even more if they get there asses in to gear and make a 2009 version as soon as possible
