Capcom To Close Clover Studios

Capcom has issued a press release that states the bad news that the Clover Studios will be shutting it doors come March 2007, the developer is perhaps most famous for their work on the Viewtiful Joe series and more recently Ōkami and God’s Hand. The press release does not state whether the developers intellectual properties themselves will be discontinued as well.

Clover’s president and CEO Atsushi Inaba made it that the studio’s goal was to promote and develop games with creativity and imagination since the studio was established by July 1, 2004. This was shown by the studio choosing the name “clover” as it was an abbreviation of “creativity lover“. There is no doubt the talent at Clover created many great games over the studios lifespan so here is hoping most if not all if the team are kept with Capcom and brought in-house to continue their work.

That's so annoying, especially after the release of the awesome Okami.

Surely instead of closing it down they could make a bit of cash by selling it? I'm sure some publishers would be all over it given the titles Clover has created.
