Capcom still riding the remaster train, Resident Evil 0 HD Remastered coming 2016

Famitsu are reporting that a Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster is in the works. It will not be out this year though, but it will most certainly be out in early 2016 in Japan. An International release should follow, but it is currently not confirmed. The platforms the game will appear on are numerous, but PS4, Xbox One, and PC are probably the ones you care about.  If you can unearth your PS3 and/or Xbox 360 from the mountain of dust that will cover it about a year from now, you can play the game there too.

The game will look something like this….

Choo Choo!

Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster is a remake/redoing/of the now 13 year old game  that was originally released on the GameCube in 2002. There was a Wii version released too – back in 2009. That is 6 years ago. Time flies. This remake will be the first time the game is playable outside of Nintendo platforms.

It should be no surprise to most that this game is on the way, as Capcom apparently love remasters nowadays. Check out this quote from their fiscal report a few weeks ago – judging by the kind words in it, even more remasters may come down the line.

HD remasters of our catalogue hit titles will be one of our key business activities. Overseas, it is
becoming difficult to sell these lower-priced and re-mastered titles at stores because of the
declining number of stores and sales area limitations. Therefore, we started aggressive digital
download sales activities. These activities created new demand for these titles. For example,
overseas download sales of “Resident Evil” (HD Remastered) in the past fiscal year were far
higher than we expected. It is not a risk but rather the growth of the download sales channel gives
users more options. We regard this as growth in opportunities to have allow access for more people
to enjoy our games.

Obviously, a lot more work would need to be done to remaster any future games bearing the name Resident Evil – as a Gamecube version of those never existed. So don’t go getting excited for fancy remakes of other games in the RE franchise – they probably will never happen. If you do not calm down, I will have to toss you in with the demented Final Fantasy 7 Remake folk, and you don’t want to be anywhere near them nowadays. They’ve been through hell over the years, and smell something horrid.
