Ff7 Remake Feature

Final Fantasy VII remake announced

During their E3 conference Sony announced that 90s PS1 classic Final Fantasy VII is being remade. I’m sure I’m not alone in my excitement to see one of the most iconic games of my generation get a second look.

Not much is given away in the teaser trailer but there is a glimpse of Barret and Cloud making their way through Midgar – and the city has never looked so impressive.

The credits so far include Yoshinori Kitase (producer), Kazushige Nojima (scenario designer), and Tetsuya Nomura (director).

Sony last revisited the game in the film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children which although impressive in some respects, failed to fully recapture the tone and atmosphere of the original. Hopefully Sony will have learned from what worked and what didn’t to make the remake the best it can be.

The soundtrack of Final Fantasy VII was one of the game’s finest attributes and I’m very much looking forward to hearing new editions of the tunes which still play in my mind occasionally!

No release date was announced so it is likely some time away – let the anticipation begin.
