Fifa 12 Yellow

Euro 2012 will be a DLC-expansion to FIFA 12, not an all new game

Remember 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, UEFA Euro 2008, 2006 FIFA World Cup (…and so on)?

They were all retail, on-disc releases by EA, which hit store shelves each summer as the actual real-world event kicked off – and Planet Earth went footy mad for a few weeks.

Well, EA will be doing things a bit different this year.

MCV reveal that instead of launching the anticipated UEFA Euro 2012 title, and planting it in on store shelves alongside the newly released FIFA Street, and FIFA 12 – EA are instead opting to make Euro 2012 DLC for FIFA 12.

If you already have FIFA 12 in your possession, you’ll be able to download the DLC – most likely at a cost (which is not revealed yet) – and update your game to include aspects of the tournament.

The download will include updates for all of the national teams taking part, and will add the eight official stadiums of the tournament into the game

MCV commented the DLC will also add a new Expedition Mode – allowing management and creation of a new national squad.

It is believed Euro 2012 will be a separate menu option in the game once downloaded – and will not completely integrate into FIFA 12.
