EA Sports dump Tiger Woods – CyberTiger reboot dream ends in tatters

Via an update on their official site, EA have announced that they have ended their long running partnership with Tiger Woods.

EA SPORTS and Tiger Woods have […] made a mutual decision to end our partnership, which includes Tiger’s named PGA TOUR golf game. We’ve always been big fans of Tiger and we wish him continued success in all his future endeavors,” comments the company.

Since 1998, when their partnership first started, there has been 17 Tiger Woods branded games in total – starting with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 99 and ending with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14. The latter was released back in March of this year.

EA also released CyberTiger for the Nintendo 64, PlayStation and Game Boy Color in 1999. Good times were had by all with this game!

EA also took the time to comment on the future of their golf titles going forward. “EA Sports golf fans have always loved authentic courses and players, but they’ve also asked for more choice and customization in how and where they play,” said the company.

We’re working on a new approach to deliver the best golf experience to our fans–we think you’ll love it, and so we’re excited to share the first screenshot of our next generation golf game currently in development.

Hopefully this latest break-up wont affect Tiger as badly as the last one.
