360 set to stick around longer than original Xbox

The original Xbox ended up only lasting four and a bit years before being replaced by the 360, which happened in late 2005. However, according to a short report by NewsTribune, citing quotes by Microsoft president Robbie Bach, Microsoft want the 360 to stay around much longer than that.

According to the site, when speaking at the CES in Las Vegas Bach commented that the company wants to stick with Xbox 360 for longer than usual, due to the fact they believe most users will not upgrade en mass to a brand new Xbox model any time soon. Thus releasing a powerful new machine would be highly detrimental to the company.

Bach however did not mention any dates though, so we’ll have to guess what is “longer than usual”  by ourselves.
