Konami bringing Metal Gear Solid Touch, Silent Hill and others to iPhone

When Konami teased that Metal Gear Solid would be making an appearance on non-Sony platforms, the iPhone wasn’t the first one that sprang to mind. But, today the Japanese publisher confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Touch is the most prominent of four games that they’re bringing to Apple’s App Store.

According to Konami, Metal Gear Solid Touch is an original game that brings to life the world and characters of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. As the name suggests, MGS Touch will feature direct control through the iPhone’s touch panel .

The game will intially feature 8 stages based on the story of MGS4, but Konami have promised that additional stages will be added later. Points earned by clearing stages can be used to unlock iPhone images and wallpapers from the MGS series. Metal Gear Solid Touch is expected to launch in Spring of 2009.
If you can’t wait until then to play a Konami game on your iPhone then you can rejoice in the fact that three other games will be released by the end of this month.
SILENT HILL The Escape is a first-person 3D shooting game that lets players utilize the control features only found on the iPhone and iPod touch such as moving their character by sliding a finger across the touch panel screen and changing alignment to target enemies using the built-in altimeter.
Frogger is a simple game where the player moves a frog 360 degrees to cross roads and rivers while avoiding obstacles. This didn’t really require an explanation did it?
DanceDanceRevolution S Lite is a music game where you tap the arrow icons that appear at the bottom of the screen in time with music. Europeans may be dismayed or indifferent to the news that DDRSL will only be available in North America and Japan.
No news yet on pricing, but we’ll take a wild stab in the dark and predict that Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill won’t be less than the £5.99 mark.
