Ex boxing champ sues game companies
Former boxing champion Alexis Arguello has decided to lace up his boxing gloves one last time, but this fight will be different than any other he has been in during his career. Arguello is suing Sony, Electronic Arts and Nintendo for using his name, his identity and boxing style without him granting his permission first.
It is believed that game he is suing over is Knockout Kings 2001, which appeared on four consoles; PSone, PS2, Xbox and the GameCube. Why he is not suing Microsoft is unknown and why he has chosen to sue Sony and Nintendo is unknown also. Maybe the simple answer is that he is not very informed about the game business and does not understand the differences between developers, publishers and consoles. If he is going to have any case at all it will be against EA as they created the game.
As always we will try and keep you updated on the situation!
