Install Games On PS3 To Reduce Load-Times

Sony has revealed that some games released for the PS3 will be able to be installed on the console which will aid in reducing long load-times for some games. The installation will commit approximately 4GB of data from a Blu-Ray disc and place it on the PS3’s hard drive. This will apparently be a three-minute one-time-only procedure which will be available from the game’s start menu.

The installation could reduce possible 15 seconds load times to as little as four seconds in some games. Sony also boast that this is something only they can offer as both versions of their console include a hard drive — 20GB and 60GB, respectively. Genji is thought to be one of the first games to use this feature but it is also though Ridge Racer 7 will have it to.
