Game Based On Dexter TV Show Announced
Marc Ecko Entertainment has revealed they are set to create a video game based on the Emmy Award winning Dexter. The show focuses on the life of Dexter Morgan, who works with the Miami Police but it also a serial killer who hunts down people who have escaped justice. The company have commented that they will be developing the game in conjunction with Showtime Networks (the channel that Dexter airs on in the US) to try and keep the game in the same spirit of the show.
“Dexter is the extremely rare TV show with enough layers of action and tension to translate perfectly into a compelling video game,” said Marc Fernandez, Vice President of Marc Ecko Entertainment. “Our game designers, writers, and artists are going to give Dexter’s morally complex world the kind of interactivity that gamers will love.”
“Dexter is one of the most popular shows on Showtime with a particularly strong fan base among gamers.” said Len Fogge, Executive Vice President, Marketing, Digital Media and Research at Showtime Networks. “We’re confident Marc Ecko Entertainment’s team has the unique talents to take Dexter to the interactive space in the right way.”
We can’t say we are too excited as of yet. Sure, Dexter is a great show, but since when has great writing translated well to a video game from a TV show? Even worse, no developer is working on the project as of yet, so there is little to impress currently. We guess we will wait and see.
